Truck Driving Program

Owens Community College offers truck driving training to help you get your commercial driver’s license (CDL) and join the leading open job occupation in Northwest Ohio.  In this 160-hour program, students learn to operate tractor-trailer equipment with over-the-road training on city, county and state highways, gaining real-time experience in all types of traffic situations.  Our team provides unparalleled classroom and hands-on training, then offers assistance is in finding employment that fits your circumstances.   For more information on the program including dates and tuition as additional fees do apply, please call (567) 661-2689.

HazMat Entry-Level CDL Endorsement Training

This course will prepare participants for the CDL-A Hazmat Endorsement test. As of February 7 2022, those who wish to obtain the CDL-A Hazmat Endorsement must complete a Hazmat Training course through a training provider on the Training Provider Registry through the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. Hazmat Endorsements are valid for 3 years. Course topics include:

  • General knowledge of hazardous materials.
  • Security risks and threats.
  • Hazmat safety regulations.
  • Hazmat packaging and signage.
  • How to report a hazmat incident properly.
  • How to read and properly placard a load.
  • Shipping papers and how to handle them.
